Psalm 103:7-13

He revealed his character to Moses
    and his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
    slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
    nor remain angry forever.
10 He does not punish us for all our sins;
    he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
    is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12 He has removed our sins as far from us
    as the east is from the west.
13 The Lord is like a father to his children,
    tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

This scripture was read Sunday by our pastor and it has really had me thinking all week long about it. Prior to reading this, he was talking about “breaking covenant with God”. Which this has many different meanings, as there are many different covenants we make with the Lord. First one being is our personal relationship with him. Spending time with him and getting to know his character and his love for us individually. Exodus 20:14 says 14 “You must not commit adultery” and what the pastor was explaining was that the word “adultery” also was referring to covenant. As in like a marriage, your making a covenant with your spouse to be faithful and not break your marriage covenant. The principle of covenant = dedicate, set apart as Holy and God will bless it. When the covenants are broken, there are no blessings released to us.

Repent, rededicate and be made Holy. This is the principle of it all. The Lord desires to have a relationship with each of us. He desires to make a covenant with us. When I reread this scripture, it really hits deep. In vs 9 when it says “He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever”. I need to remember this more, that God is not an accuser, it is satan and when I am feeling really low about myself or a situation and feel like I am bad etc… I need to remember that it is not God the Father who is speaking these things over me but the enemy of my soul. As vs 11 goes on to say “For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth”. I love this, his unfailing love for us! Could we ask for anything more?

So as we end this week and head into Memorial Day weekend and remember those that have sacrificed their lives for us to live as a free country, remember also God’s unfailing love for each of us and be blessed by his heart for his children.

Be Blessed xox
