Puppies…

I totally forgot to post a pic of our newest members.. man having puppies and more than one has proven to be challenging and I find myself asking the question often “What was I thinking” haha … although it has gotten a lot better, it is still very challenging at times. This whole potty training thing is well..next level.

Big Day Tomorrow!

We’ve all been so sad about losing our precious Daisy that we decided to get not one but two mini long haired dachshunds.. I am probably completely crazy but hey blame it on a broken heart 🙂

You’ll be able to follow along on our new adventure here as I will try to be better about keeping this blog updated. Having two little tiny girls is going to be crazy fun!

So tomorrow around 6pm we will meeting our newest members of the family. Can’t wait for you all meet them too!

Daisy Mae…

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a post and I thought this would be fitting to share one now. Our beloved Daisy Mae graduated to heaven on Easter. I’m still not sure how to process the sadness and loss of it.

Daisy was a funny long haired mini weiner dog that was full of so much personality and a lot of sass.. She was well…an awesome dog that we are going to miss very much.

Daisy was our youngest daughters dog since she was 5 years old and this has been very very hard for her. The worst part is I am out of town helping our oldest daughter open her next bakery warehouse. The sadness of not being able to see her for several weeks and then not getting to say good-bye is overwhelmingly sad to me. Was she wondering where I was-if I was ever coming back?? Kudos to my hubby for all he went through taking care of our youngest daughter and making some very hard decisions and a whole lot of emotions. He’s a great guy!!

Full sass…..
When we first got her..she was so tiny

Daisy Mae we’ll see you in Heaven..meet us at the pearly gates xoxox

A little more farm drama….

Brand new wild cotton tailed baby bunny

So it started out as a normal Saturday morning until my husband came inside with this little baby bunny. He wasn’t sure at first if it was indeed a bunny but after one look I assured him it was. “Well” he said “then you better come with me to see if there are anymore before I accidentally kill them all”. He had been doing some tractor work moving an old pile of hay bales and for whatever reason he said he hopped off of his tractor and then he heard a little squealing noise, that’s when he found this little guy. So my daughter and I grabbed gloves and followed him down there and began to pick through this giant pile of old hay bales. At first we didn’t see anymore, until I was moving some hay and there another one was…then another..then another until we found 5 baby bunnies. Their some of their eyes weren’t open yet, so we knew they were just fresh.

We gathered all of the babies and put them in a plastic bin with some of the hay they had been laying in and I called an animal rescue in the area that is for wild animals only. She advised me that the mom only comes twice a day to feed the babies and so go ahead and clean up that area and then dig them a little hole and place them back in that hole and cover with the hay. Place a ring of flour around it, so if the mom comes back it will mark her foot prints. I thought wow what a genius idea! We just needed to do it before dusk because that’s when they come back to feed. Early in the morning and at dusk, otherwise she said they are out doing bunny things.. haha I literally laughed out loud at that..bunny things hummmm ok 🙂

So at dusk, we went back to the original site where we found them and dug a hole. We placed a small tomato box in the hole and filled it with hay and placed all 5 babies in and covered them really well with more hay and then put a big thick ring of flour around the area. The next morning my daughter went to check on them. She said it was because if anything had happened to them she didn’t want me to be sad 😦 it was very sweet. To our great surprise they were all there!! The mom came and fed them and they seemed very content! They had literally grown overnight it, was so bizarre. They grow so fast!!! I watched a couple videos about these bunnies and when they are wild what do we do which was very helpful. We learned that bunnies are only in the nest for maybe a week! Can you believe that? When they say multiply like rabbits they aren’t joking!!

So everyday for the next week, we kept checking the bunnies and slowly but surely they left the nest! It was one of the coolest thing to experience. We got to hold them and love on them…what a blessing! What a great experience that we had getting to raise these little precious bunnies even if for only a week.

What’s one of the coolest experiences you’ve had recently with nature and what made it so epic?

Keep lookin up! Blessings to you xoxo

Round Top…

Round Top…who’s been to Round Top????? Well this girl just went and got to mark that off her bucket list! For those who don’t know what Roundtop is..well it’s in Roundtop, Texas and the neighboring towns and it is the best antique fair there is! It was epic. It was awesome. It was a dream come true.

Round Top Texas

This little tiny town is bursting at the seams with lots of people and treasures! I went with my best friend and we had such an awesome time. They have it twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. I’m hoping we can go back in the fall. We stayed one night at a glamping venue. We slept in a large event center like place that was filled with cute teepee tents and had 2 single beds and 2 night stands in each one. There was another side to the building that had vintage trailers in it that you could rent.

If you get a chance to go, the next one is October 25-30th, 2021 it would be worth your time. I am sure hoping I am able to go again!

Have an awesome weekend and be blessed! xox

Re~doing the duck coop…Thankful for my dad

RE~DOING THE DUCK COOP

Well this summer we had to redo the chicken/duck coop. We had quite the incident with our male duck and one of our chickens. If you remember I posted about it all last June 17, 2020. I forgot to post some pictures of what we did. My dad is so amazing and he loves us, that he will do just about anything for me/us 🙂 I get a lot of hair brained ideas and he just makes it happen for me. When he learned about what had happened to the poor little chicken and I told him I need to separate them asap this guy went home and made the ducks their very own house. I had told him I would come and help him when he had time and literally the next day he was at my house with a brand new duck house.

He just used plywood for the house and roof. Then he used a black comp for the roof material. He made a little door that goes up and down so we can lock them up at night. Then he stuck around to help us run fencing in between the chickens and ducks. We used a tall no climb fencing which is working out great. We had stopped at the local habitat restore and purchased a metal door so we could still access each side from the inside.

This has worked out perfectly and our little chicken is all protected from the aggressive male duck. We have learned through all of this that chickens and ducks don’t mix well.

What is a fun project you did over the summer of 2020 that helped solve a problem you had around your home? I’m hoping this summer goes a lot smoother… Can’t wait for the sunshine!

Hoping for an early spring xoxox

Valentine’s Day…

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8

A day of love..A day to show those around you how much they mean to you.. sometimes it’s easy and sometimes well… it’s not. 🙂 I read something today that Carrie Underwood had posted on IG and she said the reason why she didn’t really like Valentine’s Day. I was intrigued so I kept reading. It was short and to the point. She said “Anyone who knows me knows that Valentine’s Day is my least favorite holiday. I can’t put my finger on exactly why that is but it may be because I want my true love to love me “extra special” for 365 days out of the year ..not just on the one day that he’s “supposed” to.”

This really got me thinking and although I love Valentine’s Day, sappy movies, romance and all the things..I thought she is onto something here. I need to be better at loving 365 days a year and not just one special day a year. Do little special things throughout the week to let him know I was thinking about him or my kids or whomever is special in your life.

That leads me to my next thought and it will be probably be the thing that I work on until I die and it’s what and how do you love people/someone that you really don’t like? Man this is a hard one. For me, I need to continually remind myself that Jesus came for us all and he came and loves each of us unconditionally. Sometimes I can’t really wrap my head around this..why would he love me and why would he continually pursue me?

One thing I know is that Christ’s love is pure and it is genuine and he loves unconditionally. He loves 365 days a year, he loves us at our best and he loves us at our worst. So let my prayer today be “Lord enable me to love like you do, 365 days a year, to those around me that may be easy to love and some harder to love in my eyes. Give me your eyes and your heart. Help me to love well”…

My your Valentine’s Day and the other 364 days of the year be filled with lots of chocolate, love, special moments and most of all the love of Christ!

Be blessed friends xoxo

May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

2 Thessalonians 3:5

Learned something new today…

So I’ve had a nice garden area that my husband built for me several years ago that has never been great if you know what I mean… I plant stuff, it never really does that well, I get disappointed then I just say “well then forget about you”… terrible I know.

Last night we were talking and I had mentioned that I want to increase my garden area, mind you the post are concreted in…so not sure how I would do that 🙂 then he brought up the dreaded fact of “Your garden has never really done much why would we want to increase the area?” I mean he’s right but come on give a girl a chance to live would ya? But then he brought up something else.. we need to replace the soil in the beds and maybe that would help. I thought well maybe that’s the problem? Anyone have any ideas on that one??

Fast forward to this morning when I was looking on social media and there is a page I follow on FB called @MIgardener his website is http://www.migardener.com, this morning he was talking about the difference between planting perennials and annuals in your garden area. Perennials are to be planted using your zoning area so when you hit the coldest part of the year in your area those plants will survive. I thought ok I knew that.. then he was talking about annuals like tomatoes, squash, sunflowers etc.. basically what he said was -anyone can grow anything in any area what you must first determine is “your growing season”. Days to maturity. I was like that’s it.. that’s part of the problem here. Replacing the dirt is part of the problem but finding things that fit within the “Days to Maturity” category for our area will help! Now you are probably thinking well duh.. how could you not understand that? I’ve seen that on my seed packets but I guess I never ever have figured out how many actual growing days we have here. Anyways food for thought today as we are all dreaming about spring and what’s to come. I gives me a little hope for some warmer and sunnier days..

Give him a follow on fb he does alot of great videos and I believe he is on youtube also..Have a fantastic Saturday. xox

We’re coming into a new year…2021

Just a check in…How’s everyone feeling? Are you ready for a fresh start? A new year filled with a new hope and new beginnings? I know I am…

Although, looking back on 2020, I see some good things that have come out of it. I have had more time to spend with my family and tackle some new projects. I have enjoyed slower mornings and days. It was a much needed break, but I am ready for something new and fresh. I haven’t figured out quite what that is, but I want it 🙂

I saw a post today about setting goals and getting perspective for the new year. I have never been one to set goals. I am not really sure why except for I guess I don’t really know how and when you’re not really sure what you’re shooting for, it’s hard to really figure that out and then you think to yourself..what actually is the goal. It’s a vicious cycle in your head 🙂

Is there a good podcast for that or youtube video? If you have some insight of how to do that and how to figure out what your goal is, please let me know 😉

I pray for 2021, that this year would be filled with a joy and peace that is unexplainable. Where we would be firm in our faith and stand unshaken by the weightiness of the world. Let our eyes and hearts stay focused and when it gets rocky or uncertain, let us stay focused on the thing that will keep us upright..Jesus

Be safe friends and keep our eyes up…xox

Matthew 11:28 (NLT)- Then Jesus said “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”

A little update on Winston & Nelson…

Winston and Nelson

These two goofballs have been keeping us entertained all summer! We have sure enjoyed spending time with them. Although we did have some different expectations. We expected them to be our friends..well they are our friends..sort of … but only when we have treats for them, it’s really annoying. We have seen all of these other goats in videos following their humans around and climbing on them but that’s not the case here. If anyone has some ideas of how we accomplish this please let me know 😉

Winston loves bananas which is so funny! You can take one to him and he will gobble it up, peel and all and Nelson wants nothing to do with them! They have also begun fainting (they are fainting goats it’s normal) and it’s actually pretty funny and sad all at the same time. Poor guys but it does give us a good laugh. You should look up videos on fainting goats it will keep you entertained for a while.

Winston and Nelson

They are just so dang cute! We are wanting to get a bottle fed one in the spring maybe… I’ve heard that’s the key to making them your friends. Enjoy the small simple pleasures life brings you these days! Have a blessed week friends.. xox
